Google Pixel 6 series, “mainstream premium product”

According to statements made by the company’s devices leader, the Google Pixel 6 series, the tech giant’s future flagship range, would be positioned in the premium market.

The next-generation lineup, which is believed to feature the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, might compete with the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Apple’s premium iPhone lineup.

Rick Osterloh, Google’s SVP of Devices and Services, has indicated that the Pixel 6 Pro will be costly. This comes after he stated that the Pixel 6 phones will be powered by Tensor, Google’s own SoC.

We haven’t had a presence in the smartphone flagship class in the last two years, and we didn’t have one before that. However, the Pixel 6 Pro, which will be costly, was created exclusively for people who desire the most up-to-date technologies.

This is a significant new technique for us, and we hope it will help us become more appealing in new market segments.

However, the Pixel 6 belongs in the upper segment and can compete with competitive items. I’d classify it as a “mainstream premium product”. Osterloh told Der Spiegel.

Osterloh also disclosed in his interview that the Pixel 6 Pro will have a telephoto lens and feature 4x optical zoom.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be released this fall and will be powered by the latest Android 12 software.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have the same overall design, with the exception of their screen sizes, camera lenses, and few functions.

Furthermore, the camera module is a projecting strip that runs the width of the phones and houses larger sensors than prior models.

Price (expected)

Osterloh told the German language magazine Der Spiegel that the Pixel 6 Pro would be costly. He also stated that the Pixel 6 will be placed in the ‘upper segment.’

If confirmed, the Pixel 6 Pro will be Google’s first phone to cost more than $1,000. (roughly Rs. 74,100).

It will compete with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which starts at $1,199 in the United States, and the next-generation iPhone 13 Pro Max, which is expected to cost more than $1,000.

PhoneArena estimates that the Pixel 6 will cost between $899 and $999 (approximately Rs. 66,600 and Rs. 74,000), while the Pixel 6 Pro will cost between $1,099 and $1,199. (roughly Rs. 81,400 to Rs. 88,900).
