Customer Review From Amazon.in
I bought this set of coasters as part of my dad’s birthday present. Even though he is not a chemist, as a scientist he found them a clever idea with practical use (not just a paperweight). The set came exactly as pictured with the same four elements – Radium-226 (red), Plutonium-244 (blue), Uranium-238 (green), and Thorium-232 (orange). So far, we have only started using two of them. The coasters glow nice and bright. I agree with the other reviewers that the sensitivity of the pressure activation is a problem if you wish to stack them while not in use and an on/off switch would have been a good addition. Otherwise, we are very pleased with the coasters. They will definitely come in handy next time we have a party at night.
These are wonderful coasters; a bit pricey, but just what I needed for my dark theater room in my home. They are powered by two 2032 flat, coin-like batteries. I do not know how long the batteries will last, so I ordered extra batteries when needed. They glow bright. I did not need the radioactive theme, but this theme is creative, nonetheless. Now I can know WHERE to set my drink when the room is dark.
Actually purchased these for a client who happens to be a nuclear physicist and he got a kick out of them, but the interesting thing was both his grandkids were absolutely fascinated by the way they lit up and spent an hour playing with them, stacking them together and then putting various items on top to make “rainbows” out of them. So even if the intended recipient doesn’t quite know what to make of them maybe his or her kids will enjoy them. In any case, the lighting effect is actually pretty dramatic, they are well-built and easily handled the abuse dealt out by a two and three-year old.
